About the Chickasaw Council

Scouting for the Mid-South

Founded in Memphis in 1916, the Chickasaw Council of Scouting America serves more than 7,300 youth members across 15 counties in Tennessee, Arkansas, and Mississippi. These counties are divided into six districts.

The Council owns and operates two camps: Kia Kima Scout Reservation in Hardy, Arkansas, and Camp Currier in Eudora, Mississippi. It is also home to the Ahoalan-Nachpikin Lodge of the Order of the Arrow, Scouting’s national honor society.

A registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, the Council is funded largely through private philanthropy and is led by a volunteer board of directors composed of business and community leaders from around the region.

The board oversees the work of a professional staff of approximately 15, while roughly 4,000 adult volunteers lead, advise, and support hundreds of Troops, Packs, and other units.
