2024 Friends of Scouting Luncheon

The Chickasaw Council is hosting its annual Friends of Scouting Lunch on Thursday, March 7, 2024. The event begins with a gathering at 11:30 a.m. with lunch promptly following at 12:00 p.m. at the Holiday Inn University of Memphis, 3700 Central Avenue, Memphis, TN 38111.

Our guest speaker will be Gilroy Chow. Gilroy is a Clarksdale, Mississippi, resident and Delta native. He earned his degree in engineering at Mississippi State University. Mr. Chow began working as a contractor for NASA in 1966, building lunar nodules and gained notoriety for his work on the Apollo 13 Mission when he and his team had to figure out how to retrofit a CO2 filter to filter out deadly gas in the module. A truly interesting and unique perspective from a fellow member of our community. In addition to our speaker, you will also be presented with an update on the state of Scouting in the Chickasaw Council.

Every week in Tennessee, Mississippi, and Arkansas, thousands of Scouts raise their hand and make a promise representing a lifelong commitment to this community and themselves.  With each success, their confidence, self-reliance, and sense of worth become stronger. That strength helps them to make the right choices as they are confronted with difficult challenges throughout life.

We are looking foreward to a great event!
