Did You Know? Scouts Find the Way
Did you know...
Scouts learn multiple ways of finding their way in the wilderness?
In today’s modern world, GPS devices are one way to know where you are and where you are going. But, what do you do when the battery on your GPS is dead and your cell phone is out of range?
Scouts learn how to read and use topographic maps, a compass, and natural features to determine their location, identify possible routes, and find their way to safety. It’s one of many useful skills taught by Scouting. There’s even an Orienteering merit badge which provides mastery of this important life skill.
When you’re lost, it’s good to have a Scout along to help you find your way.
