The Chickasaw Council Shooting Sports Committee, in conjunction with USA Archery, is offering Archery Level 1 or Level 2 Instructor training.
Level 1 provides the necessary tools to maintain a high level of safety on and off the archery range. The student will learn about range safety, range setup, steps of shooting, equipment and repair. A USA Archery Level 1 Instructor or higher certification is required to operate Scouts BSA, Venture, Explorer and Sea Scout archery ranges and teach Cub Scout Range Master training. Additional information may be found on the BSA Shooting Sports page. The Level 1 Practical is a four hour “in-person” class and may be registered by the student upon completion of the L1 online class.
Level 2 includes Level 1 with additional advanced National Training System techniques providing the necessary tools to serve as lead instructors for long-term archery and other programs such as “Explore Archery” as well as eligibility to take the Instructor Trainer Certification Course to teach USA Archery Level 1 and Level 2 Instructor Courses. The Level 2 Practical is an eight hour “in-person” class and may be registered by the student upon completion of the L2 online class.
Archery training is divided into two convenient “fee-based” segments where the student first completes either a USA Archery Level 1 or USA Archery Level 2 online class and then signs up with a Chickasaw Council Archery Instructor Trainer to complete the “in-person” Practical class.
The Practical course is where the student meets with an Instructor Trainer to do the hands-on portion of training, including practicing the shooting process and helping other students improve their technique.
The online Level 1 and Level 2 courses cost $40 and $50, respectively; and the discounted Practical class is $20 and $30, respectively.
Registration and additional information for Online and Practical classes may be found at these links:
