2025 Friends of Scouting Lunch

The Chickasaw Council is hosting its annual Friends of Scouting Lunch on Thursday, March 6, 2025. The event begins with a gathering at 11:30 a.m. with lunch promptly following at 12:00 p.m. at the Hilton Memphis, 939 Ridge Lake Boulevard, Memphis, TN 38120.

Randy Boyd, a former Scoutmaster, and former Great Smoky Mountain Council President, is someone who truly embodies the Scout Oath and Law. He has been the president of the University of Tennessee (UT) System since November 2018, overseeing its multiple campuses, including the flagship campus in Knoxville. He founded Radio Systems Corporation in 1991, which produces pet-related products and employs over 1,400 people globally. Mr. Boyd also owns Sports, LLC, which owns five minor-league baseball teams, including the Tennessee Smokies. Transitioning to public service in 2007, Boyd co-founded tnAchieves, helping over 133,000 students attend community college tuition-free. He served as Bill Haslam’s Special Advisor on Higher Education and later as Commissioner of Economic and Community Development, helping to recruit 52,000 jobs and $9 billion in investments for Tennessee.

We look forward to hearing about Mr. Boyd’s remarkable and diverse experiences and the role that Scouting served in his life. In addition to our speaker, you will also be presented with an update on the state of Scouting in the Chickasaw Council. You will also be offered an opportunity to financially support the Scouting program for 2025.
